Georgia Governor Names Arete Chairman to Education Commission

In January, Arete Scholars was honored to have board chairman and Atlanta Falcons Executive Vice President Greg Beadles named to Georgia Governor Nathan Deal's Education Reform Commission. The 34-person panel of educators, legislators, and business leaders will evaluate and make recommendations on a wide range of K-12 issues, from the school funding formula to expanding school options for Georgia families.

Said Governor Deal: "With this commission now in place, it is my hope that we will work together to make education more accessible and effective in preparing our state’s students for the rigors of college and the workforce.”

The commission began its work in February, with Beadles serving on the sub-committee for educational options and school choice. Recommendations are scheduled to go to Governor Deal by August, with some going into effect as early as the 2016-17 school year.
