Step Into Your Story: Win Limited Edition Custom Arete Vans

Arete Scholars is excited to announce the return of our “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” contest—a creative opportunity for Arete students to tell their stories in their own voices. This contest invites students to reflect on their lived experiences and share the moments that have shaped who they are today.

Students may submit either a 1–3 page written essay or a two-minute video, offering a glimpse into their personal journeys. From challenges faced and milestones achieved to dreams still on the horizon, participants are encouraged to explore the experiences that define them. Each story is a reminder that growth, perseverance, and purpose look different for every student.

Whether overcoming personal obstacles, thriving in the classroom, or making a difference in their communities, students are invited to reflect on how far they’ve come—and where they hope to go next. This is a chance to celebrate resilience, determination, and the commitment it takes to pursue personal and academic growth.

To honor the courage and creativity of our participants, two students will be selected as contest winners, each receiving a special prize: a pair of limited-edition, custom-designed Arete Scholars Vans sneakers. These one-of-a-kind shoes represent more than a prize—they celebrate each winner’s journey and the support of the Arete Scholars community that walks alongside them.*

How to Enter:

• Submit a 1–3 page essay or a minimum two-minute video describing what it’s like to be you.
  Consider sharing:

  • Your challenges

  • Your successes

  • What has shaped you so far

  • Who you hope to become and how you’re working toward that future

• Complete the submission form and upload your essay or video link by February 13, 2026.

Rules/Eligibility:

• Contestants must:

  • Be in grades 6–12

  • Attend an Arete Scholars partner school

  • Be a current Arete Scholars scholarship recipient

• One submission per student

• Essays must be 1–3 pages; videos must be at least 2 minutes

• All entries must be received by February 13, 2026

• Winners will be announced on February 23, 2026

• Custom shoes will be created by Arete and delivered 4–6 weeks after winners are selected
